What is the Charter Mark?

The National Attendance Portal Charter Mark recognises organisations that can evidence high standards of attendance leadership and practice. It is deliberately broader than an attendance percentage: it tests strategic leadership, belonging, data intelligence, prevention, inclusion, family partnership, casework, multi-agency working, workforce capability and continuous improvement.

It is particularly useful as an evidence organiser for inspection, governance, trust assurance, school/college self-evaluation and improvement planning. The framework map changes when you select England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Transparent scoring: every standard contains 5 audit statements × 2 points = a Practice Score out of 10. Not evidenced = 0 · Partly in place = 1 · Secure & evidenced = 2. Evidence Strength is scored separately out of 10. The Charter Mark result combines 60% Practice + 40% Evidence Strength. The resulting final score determines the award level. A Practice Score of 10/10 will always display as 10/10.
